FAQ
Are you a builder?
No. This is a free referral guide run by Sooner Services. Quote requests are shared with local builders, which may pay for them.
What does a 30x40 metal shop cost?
One national price guide lists a 30x40 steel package at $24,000 and installed costs of $24 to $45 per square foot with slab and erection. Treat that as an estimate and get local quotes.
What does a carport cost in Oklahoma?
Two Oklahoma sellers list 20x20 carports at about $1,660 on sale and $2,215, plus tax.
Do I need a permit?
Usually. Oklahoma City requires a permit for any accessory structure and for carports, and Oklahoma County requires permits for outbuildings on unincorporated land.
How big can my shop be?
It depends on lot size and city. In Oklahoma City, a lot under half an acre allows 1,000 square feet of detached accessory buildings; Moore allows 600 square feet on similar lots.
Can I use bare metal siding?
Not everywhere. Yukon bars uncoated metal on accessory buildings, and Oklahoma City requires baked-on paint on metal panels on lots under half an acre.
Do I need engineered drawings?
In Norman, yes: its residential checklist says plans for manufactured steel buildings must be sealed by an Oklahoma-licensed engineer. Elsewhere, ask the permit office.
